Semester Design Retrospective

Resume Project-

The resume project, in retrospect came off looking more like a menu. It needed something to distinguish it more from other applicants and less wide open space at the top and the bottom. The text wrapping tool would have served this project well. 
 

Flyer Project-

The Flyer has a strong, impactful design that effectively communicates the issue of the school to prison pipeline without making light of it. It provides important information to the reader that helps them to start understanding the issue, as well as a source for more information. 


Brochure Project- 

The brochure provides a bold, eye catching layout that is wonderfully simple, but also interwoven with meaning and class. The interior layout is tight, with no wasted space but also not being crammed together. The African American flag stands out and reminds the reader of the theme of the brochure.


Postcard Project- 

The postcard is a great summation of Scott, his interests, and his goals. His love and enjoyment of films and the science fiction genre in particular is displayed in the sleek retro visual style of the postcard and the arrangement of elements and colors fit together well. 



Logo Project-

The logo for Rustbelt Productions is clear as to the company's purpose and evocates the right feel by using the orange to relate to the rustbelt. The old style tape-reels make it clear to the viewer that the company is focused on film rather than any other number of "productions" a company might handle.

Call to Action- School to Prison Pipeline Paragraphs and Thumbnails

  Revised 3 Paragraphs The school to prison pipeline is a hostile social construct within our schools in which children of minority groups, the vast majority of those affected being BIPOC, are disproportionately targeted for disciplinary measures and treated like problems to be solved rather than children to be taught and nurtured. This system and behavior towards these students pushes them out of the education system and into incarceration and the prison industrial complex. While BIPOC children are the most affected by the school to prison pipeline, the effects also extend to LGBTQ+ students, and those with learning disabilities as well as other minority groups that could be seen as bad students. Logo Project Sketches

 The three sketches for the Logo project-   The company is a production company called Rustbelt Productions. The name of the company was chosen because it will be based in Buffalo which is located in the rustbelt, or the post industrial cities located in the northeast US. Rustbelt Productions will be a member owned film production company that will operate and make films in the Western New York region. The demographic of this company will be creative types, actors, and other production companies that want to work and produce films with Rustbelt. This company is being created to promote the film industry in the region as well as local talent and crew.
